Channel 5 commissioned Ricochet Television, the makers of Supernanny and Extreme Dreams to produce a show that was filmed in four continents over an eight-week period. The concept of the show was to place eight highly competitive, driven athletes through some of the toughest physical and mental challenges used by elite performers and organizations.

Presented by world-renowned explorer Benedict Allen, Remote Trauma provided professional safety & medical support plus advice for various high-risk and challenging activities ranging from Alligator wrestling in the Florida Everglades to participating in traditional Zulu stick fighting contests in South Africa.
