Millionaires' Mission - Remote Trauma in Uganda
17 September 2007

Silver River won a commission from Channel 4 to produce four exciting one-hour programmes, the first of which is to be broadcast at 9pm on Wednesday 19th September. The aim of the production was to examine the difficulties of development work by introducing a group of entrepreneurs to a rural community in South West Uganda. The contributors lived within this environment, and in so doing, came to understand some of the challenges the people of this region face.

This series explored the coming together of two groups of people who live totally opposite lives; following the journey as both cultures attempt to live together, learn from each other, and make a positive change.

Remote Trauma provided a specialist safety and health risk management package for the production. This involved a member of our high-risk safety team conducting a reconnoitre in December 2006, after which a threat analysis, casualty evacuation plan and comprehensive risk assessment were produced. Training was also provided for the crew and contributors who all attended a one-day country specific “travel safety awareness course” to equip them with the skills required in order to work in such a remote and potentially hazardous environment.

Two members of our safety team accompanied the production prior to and during filming during early 2007 and were available 24/7 for advice and support on any safety or health issues affecting production personnel.
