Charities

Remote Trauma has been privileged to work around the world in many challenging and interesting places. Our work has exposed us to countries and individuals who have not been as fortunate as ourselves. As a company with a strong ethic for donating to charity we have chosen to support and promote several organisations that we have either worked directly with, or have seen the results of their hard work and effort.

We strongly believe that the money raised for charitable causes should be spent where it is needed most i.e. at grass roots level, on projects that make a direct impact and a difference to individuals and communities. In our opinion the charities listed below achieve this and we are proud to promote and support them.

Please spare the time to review these sites and if possible make a donation.

The independent responsive charity run by experienced, competent, caring volunteers helping vulnerable young Africans achieve their potential through education.

Working through local organizations, A-CET supports thousands of youngsters with long-term scholarships and a community rural elementary schools building programme. All locally selected scholarship students and their backgrounds are well known to us and are assisted from kindergarten through to higher education and into employment. No money is spent on UK salaries or professional fund-raising. In 2006/7, 90% of donations went to our students or schools.

StuffYourRucksack.com

Stuff your ruck sack enables travellers to give practical help to places they visit by bringing things that are really needed. It's not not about taking sweets and pens to encourage children to beg; nor is it about handing out money to people who might tell a good story but whose scruples are far from good.

It is about helping small, legitimate organisations that get little or no help from their government or from local or international NGO's. It's about travellers helping other travellers to give practical assistance to people who have the least, but often give the most.
